The stories we tell have come to signify us. As Caribbean people we are all too familiar with this ordeal as stories have made us who we are, they validate the very essence of our existence. Our identities were woven into the fabric of the soil that we live on, by the expressions of love, pain, sufferance, and liberation of our people.
If not for the recounting of our ancestor’s tribulations, how would we have come to know ourselves?
Our experiences, our feelings, our hopes and dreams are shared to others through stories and experiences. They are found everywhere, not just in books, but in every moment that we share.
On this premise, Book Things TT has formed our new direction; a journey that engages Caribbean litterateurs through our stories that have been told, and our stories that are yet to be told.
We aim to focus on the conversations that explore the different facets of Caribbean culture and its influence on our Literature, through book reviews, discussions with Caribbean Authors/Literature connoisseurs and perspective pieces.
Essential to Caribbean Literature is its relatability to our everyday lives, its retention of our rich culture and its adaptability to the ever-changing elements of our growing society. With this we hope to create a community where these stories can be shared, paralleling our experience as Caribbean people.
